Margot Robbie’s Production Team Joins New Sims Movie

The Sims fans, get excited! The iconic life simulation game is heading to the big screen. EA (Electronic Arts), the game’s publisher, has confirmed it’s working with Amazon MGM Studios to bring The Sims to life in a brand-new movie adaptation.

Rumors had been circulating for months, and now it’s official! The project even has some powerhouse names attached: Margot Robbie’s production company, LuckyChap, is teaming up with Loki director Kate Herron. Plus, British comedian and author Briony Redman will be co-writing the script. Redman has previously collaborated with Herron on popular shows like Doctor Who and Sex Education, so fans can expect a clever, lively take on the world of The Sims.

While EA has shared that it’s “too early to reveal more details,” they promised updates in 2025 – just in time to celebrate The Sims’ 25th anniversary! The movie has the potential to capture all the quirky charm of the game, where players control cartoon-like Sims in a world filled with endless possibilities, creative expansions, and a hint of chaos (anyone remember the vampire Sims pack?).

As for Margot Robbie herself, she hasn’t confirmed whether she’ll appear on screen, but with LuckyChap at the helm, fans can dream! After her wildly successful turn in Barbie and her production team’s involvement in Monopoly, Robbie expressed her passion for making films with big, original ideas, telling Variety: “Why can’t it be another big, original, bold idea?” With Saltburn a recent hit on Amazon Prime, we can’t wait to see what LuckyChap brings to The Sims movie—and who knows, maybe Margot herself will pop in as a Sim!
