A group of men at a stag party got the surprise of a lifetime when Margot Robbie herself interrupted their heated discussion about the Barbie movie.
The 33-year-old actress, who starred as Mattel’s iconic doll in the 2023 blockbuster, shared the amusing story during a special Barbie screening organized by SAG-AFTRA. Robbie explained that while visiting a remote pub in Scotland, she couldn’t help but overhear a lively debate about her film happening just a few feet away.

“I was in a pub in the middle of nowhere in Scotland and listened for about 30 minutes to a group of guys on a bachelor party discussing the Barbie movie,” Robbie recounted. “They had no idea I was sitting two or three feet away.”
One of the men was passionately defending the movie. “He was like, ‘Dude, it is a cultural moment, don’t you want to be a part of culture?’” Robbie recalled, laughing. Another man, initially dismissive, eventually came around to the idea of watching it. Intrigued by their conversation, Robbie decided to approach them.
“I went over to their table and said, ‘Thank you for seeing the Barbie movie,’” she revealed, adding that the group was completely caught off guard. “It was very funny—they lost it. It took them a full minute to realize who I was, and by the time they did, I was practically out the door!”
Barbie has been a cultural phenomenon since its release, recently earning eight Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture. Ryan Gosling and America Ferrera also received nods for Best Supporting Actor and Actress, solidifying the movie as both a critical and commercial success.
